Every parent relishes the joy that comes with giving away their daughter in marriage to the man of her dreams, and this was the situation when a former Controller of Customs, Comptroller Adebayo Adekunle (Rtd), gave out his beautiful daughter, Yewande Oge Adebayo in marriage to her prince charming, Owolabi Mohamed, son of chairman, Board of Trustees, Action Democratic Party (ADP), Chief Alani Bankole, in Abuja.
The exchange of marital vows, which took place at the National Ecumenical Centre, Abuja, was a great gathering of friends, family members, well-wishers and the general public, who witnessed the traditional exchange of rings and signing of the official marriage register to signal a new beginning as one.
Harping on the well-known belief that marriage is not a bed of roses, the Officiating Minister, Rev. Godseed Ekeleme, took time to intimate the couple on the rudiments of living a happy married life, advising them not them not to allow any intruder into their marriage but to always sort out issues between themselves.
Thereafter, having performed the basic rites, Rev Ekeleme pronounced the love-birds man and wife to the applause of all present, who followed it up with thanksgiving in both cash and kind.
The party afterwards shifted to the popular International Conference Centre, Abuja, which was perfectly decorated by Perfect Integrated Deco, where a grand reception was held. The hall sparkled with combination of lights from dangling chandeliers, giving the atmosphere a touch of classic love, and KAS Security was firmly on ground to ensure the celebrants and guests enjoyed the day without rancour.
The bridal train and groom’s men set the party in motion with a well-rehearsed dance performance, where each of the bride’s maids danced into the reception hall with a groom’s man. The spectacle was mind blowing, and elicited commendation from the guests.
The entrance of the train paved the way for a more grandiose entry of the couple. The groom, decked in a three piece suit and black bow tie, and looking like a fairy prince, in company of his prized possession, the adorable bride, who wore a tubeless wedding gown happily danced to a very loud ovation.
All seated, the guests remembered the late mother of the groom, late Chief Mrs. Aduni Bankole, one time Iyalode of Gbagura land, Abeokuta, and honoured her with a moment of silence.
Adding to Rev Godseed’s admonition, the chairman of the occasion, who is also the former Director of Bureau of Public Procurement, Chief Bayo Awosemusi, encouraged the couple to love each other and live in one accord.
With fanfare and very wide jubilation, the couple performed their first joint function when they cut their gigantic three steps cake, professionally perfected by Cakes LA, surrounded by friends and family members.
It was an emotional setting afterwards as the bond between father and daughter was displayed as both took to the dance before he permanently handed her over to her husband.
Guests were treated to local and continental dishes with choice wine supplied by Classic Golden Point, and Mope food in addition to various species of small chops made available by 12 Baskets.
Among dignitaries that graced the occasion were former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt Hon. Dimeji Bankole, National Chairman of the Reformed All Progressives Congress, Alhaji Buba Galadima, Barr Olusola Ojutalayo, Mr. and Mrs. Balewa among many others.
