Wike Fed the Nation with ‘Arrogant Lies’, Dele Momodu Fires Back

Published

By Eric Elezuo

Former presidential candidate and Chairman, Ovation Media Group, Chief Dele Momodu, has faulted the interview the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, granted Channels Television, saying the immediate past governor of Rivers State, fed the nation with arrogant lies.

In a statement the veteran journalist circulated via his official Instagram handle, he regretted his absence from Nigeria so he could punch all the responses Wike gave.

Momodu questioned the rationale behind Wike’s claim that he cannot be disciplined by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), a party he technically dumped during the build up to the 2023 presidential election after losing the primaries to eventual candidate, Atiku Abubakar, informing that there’s no portion of the party’s constitution that says power must come to the South, adding that one of his so called G-5 members was the chairman of the committee that threw open the contest.

He warned Wike to understand that power is transient, and he will go the way of other politicians, whose time expired, using immediate past president Muhammadu Buhari as a case study.

He further accused Wike of being a co-President with Bola Tinubu, whose only credential is sabotaging his own party, and winning Rivers State for the APC.

Momodu’s statement is as follows:

After watching this interview last night, I immediately called MR SEUN OKINBALOYE of CHANNELS Tv and told him I wished I was in Nigeria and would have come to respond to the many arrogant lies he allowed Minister Nyesom Wike to get away with.

“When did WIKE become the sole owner of PDP that he cannot be disciplined by a 24-year old political party? It would have been nice to know if he founded the party or when he acquired majority shares in it since he now has more money than ALIKO DANGOTE.

“WIKE should quote the portion of the PDP Constitution that says power must come to the South. He should tell the world the Chairman of the Zoning Committee that threw the contest open to all zones of the party and why he agreed to buy the Presidential nomination form.

“When did WIKE become the Champion of the South; was it after his bid to be Vice President to ALHAJI ATIKU ABUBAKAR was rejected or after requests to handpick the juiciest Ministerial portfolios, like the ones he got from ASIWAJU BOLA TINUBU, were rebuffed. Would he have continued to flagrantly badmouth ALHAJI ATIKU ABUBAKAR if he had selected him as his runningmate?

“WIKE and four other Governors were parading themselves as G5 while frolicking from Nigeria to Europe and back. Three of them from Benue, Enugu and Abia lost their Senatorial bids, spectacularly and resoundingly. SEUN should have asked WIKE, where are the other “suicide bombers” today? Gone with the wind. The G5 was always about one man’s ego and ambition.

“WIKE claimed, contentiously, that he delivered Rivers State to TINUBU, only one state out of six in the South/South region. Was that enough to justify all this grandiloquent vituperation by Nigeria’s co-President, WIKE? His three acolytes couldn’t deliver and they’ve since been abandoned in the lurch!! What happened to their regular joint press conferences?

“WIKE claims all PDP Governors sent Ministerial nominations to TINUBU. He should tell us how many of them were eventually approved, except the one he handpicked from a neighboring state. WIKE forgot to recommend any member of the G5. No nominee of GOVERNOR SEYI MAKINDE was visible on the Ministerial list…

“WIKE seems to know more about the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal verdict ahead of the rest of us by saying on television that he and his people are only waiting for PEPT to finish, in order to unleash a reign of one party state on Nigeria. His mission is very clear, collapse PDP and hand over its remnants to APC, as long as he remains the co-President of TINUBU and allowed to go all out on his vengeful mission. WIKE is obviously a poor student of history, he would have seen the deadend ahead. Barely three months ago, PRESIDENT BUHARI was the Alpha & Omega of APC. His word was Law. Where’s he today… All the blames for the FAILURE of Nigeria are being heaped on him. His most fastidiously loyal men, EFCC’s BAWA and Central Bank’s EMEFIELE are already in TINUBU’s gulag, indefinitely. BUHARI must be wondering how quickly he’s been thrown under the bus… Truth is, as they say in America, that is how the COOKIE crumbles…”

These investments are part of the administration’s strategy to improve overall living conditions and enhance public health across the country.

As the National Assembly reviews the budget, the president reiterated his administration’s resolve to address the nation’s most pressing needs.

The leader of the United Kingdom’s Conservative Party, Kemi Badenoch, has lashed back at Vice President Kashim Shettima over the latter’s reaction to her comments about Nigeria.

Badenoch was born in the UK in 1980 to Nigerian Yoruba parents.

Badenoch, who attained age 16 in Nigeria before departing the country for the UK where she was elected Conservative Party’s leader, described Nigeria as a nation brimming with thieving politicians and insecurity.

However, Shettima, while speaking at the 10th Annual Migration Dialogue at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Monday, December 9, 2024, accused Badenoch of “denigrating her country of origin” with her remarks.

The vice-president listed influential people whose families had migrated to other countries, commending former UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak as a “brilliant young man who never denigrated his nation of ancestry.”

Reacting on Wednesday, Badenoch lashed back at Shettima, saying she doesn’t do “PR for Nigeria”.

Her spokesperson, as the Tory leader, according to UK Express, said: “Kemi is not interested in doing Nigeria’s PR; she is the Leader of the Opposition in the UK.

“She tells the truth; she tells it like it is; she isn’t going to couch her words. She stands by what she said.”
