Celebrity journalist and Chairman, Ovation Media Group, Aare has lamented the gruesome killing of over 50 worshippers in Saint Francis Catholic Church, Owo in Ondo State by bandits on Sunday morning, saying that was one killing too many. The former presidential aspirant added that time has come for the country to rejig its security apparatuses to safeguard lives and property of the citizens.

The veteran journalist made these remarks in a press statement he signed himself, and made available to The Boss.

“The killing of unarmed people, who were worshipping their God, is unwarranted, and nothing but callous, wicked and speaks loudly of the present state of insecurity bedevilling the country.

“The country has come to a point where it needs to rejig its security network to enhance proper intelligence gathering because as it is, the lives of the average of the ordinary Nigerian is not worth anything if a group of men can just walk into a church and kill as many as they could without any form of opposition,” Momodu said.

While calling on the government of the day to wake up and live up to expectation, he advised the citizens to be at alert at all times as there exist so much porosity in the security and safety of people as provided by the government.

“While I commiserate with the families of the victims and the government of Ondo State, I wish to state categorically that everyone should remain alert, and be security conscious as many things cannot be explained these days,” he said.
