As Muslims faithful commence the obligatory 30-day fasting period, Honourable Commissioner for Commerce and Industry and Ogun East Senatorial District All Progressives Congress (APC) consensus aspirant, Otunba Bimbo Ashiru has urged faithful to be steadfast and pray for peace, unity and progress of the country.
In his goodwill message commemorating the Holy Month, Otunba Ashiru admonished Muslims to always abide by the lessons of Ramadan which include self-denial, discipline and perseverance among other virtues as contained in the tenets of Islam.
He also admonished Muslims to imbibe the spirit of forgiveness, discipline and good neighbourliness during and after the period of Ramadan.
The Holy Month of Ramadan, he said, was a period which should be used to appreciate God’s love for humanity and therefore “we must do away with all acts that contradict the expected behaviour of a devout Muslim and promote friendliness, hope and love among the generality of Nigerians.
He also reminded Muslims that they should be guided by Islamic injunctions in all their deeds and not limit their faith to the lessons of Ramadan alone but be guided by the teachings of Prophet Mohammed (SAW) as contained in the Holy Qur’an.
