Why Sterling Bank Partnered Nike Art Gallery For World Tourism Day 2021

MD/CEO of Sterling Bank, Mr Abubarka Suleiman has revealed that his institution partnered Nike Art Gallery to host a World Tourism Day 2021 event because of its

intention to help support the arts and harness its potentials.

Speaking to OVATION at a #WTD2021 event held at the Nike Art Gallery, Lekki, Lagos, Mr Suleiman noted that the bank began by finding out what has been preventing the full potential of Nigerians.

“Everybody talks about the potential, the skills, the entrepreneurship, the energy, the natural resources but we are not seeing the output”

“We started by asking the question, what is missing? Most people jump at it and say leadership but leadership is a very broad term because it happens in every space. So we began to research”

“We felt that healthcare, agriculture, education, renewable energy and transport where a few of those areas Nigeria were struggling, despite the fact that there were huge opportunities. So we spent time to understand the space and unlock it.

In the course of our research, we discovered the massive amount of potential in the art, culture, tourism and entertainment. We decided to engage the whole value chain,so we can design solutions they will need to harness that potential”

The event saw guests enjoying good music, drinks and bites as they toured the imposing and impressive gallery.

Also, Adunni & Nefetiti performed while fashion label, Modela showcased an assortment of african designs.

The legend, Chief (Mrs) Okundaye was at her ebullient best, thrilling everyone with her dance steps and knowledge of the art.
