The Queen of England, Elizabeth II has died according to a statement released by Buckingham Palace.
The short announcement revealed that the 96 years old queen, who been ruler of England at 25, passed away peacefully at Balmoral on Thursday afternoon.
“The Queen died peacefully at Balmoral this afternoon. The King and The Queen Consort will remain at Balmoral this evening and will return to London tomorrow,” the statement read.
She will be likely succeeded by her eldest son, Prince Charles, who is 73 years.
