There are indications that Super Eagles prolific striker, and Africa Footballer of the Year, Victor Osimhen, may miss the semifinal game against the Bafana Bafana of South Africa on Wednesday.

This is because, according to a statement on the team’s official X handle, Osimhen did not travel with the rest of the team to Bouake on Tuesday night as a result ‘abdominal discomfort’.

The tweet reads:

“Members of the team traveled from Abidjan to Bouaké today via a 10pm Air Cote D’Ivoire flight. Osimhen did not however make the trip as a result of an abdominal discomfort. Team medics confirmed that he has been placed under close watch with a member of the medical team staying behind in Abidjan with him. If cleared by tomorrow morning, he will join the rest of the squad before 5pm.”

Nigeria will be facing South Africa in make or mar semi final on Wednesday. The last time both countries met at this stage was in 2000 at the National Stadium in Lagos. The Super Eagles won by 2-0.
