Niger Junta Agrees to Dialogue with ECOWAS

Leader of the Niger Republic coup, General Abdourahmane Tchiani, has consented to engage in a dialogue with the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) following his meeting with a group of Nigerian Islamic scholars led by Sheikh Abdullahi Bala Lau, the national leader of Jama’atu Izalatil Bid’ah Wa Iqamatus Sunnah (JIBWIS), in Niger Republic.

According to Niger Republic’s Prime Minister, Ali Mahamane Lamine Zeine, General Tchiani has given his approval for talks with ECOWAS and expressed optimism that these discussions would take place in the coming days.

The Nigerian President will be informed of the details of our discussions.

We anticipate that in the upcoming days, representatives from ECOWAS will visit us to discuss the process of lifting the imposed sanctions,” he stated.
