Danjuma Donates N5bn to Church Housing Project

Date:

Former Nigerian Chief of Army Staff, Gen. Theophilus Danjuma, has pledged a donation of N5bn to the Diocese of Lagos Centenary City project.

He announced the donation following his decoration by the Bishop of Lagos Diocese, The Rt. Rev. Humphrey Olumakaiye, as the grand patron of the Diocese of Lagos Centenary celebration.

He noted the donation was to support the proposed low cost housing of the centenary city, which, according to the bishop, would be named General TY Danjuma Low Income Housing Estate Centenary City.

Danjuma announced the donation at a gala and award night organised by the diocese, the oldest Anglican diocese in Nigeria.

The event was meant to raise funds for the building of the massive city located at Ibeju-Lekki in Lagos State.

Present at the event were the Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu; Senator Bola Tinubu; Governor Dairus Ishaku of Taraba State, among others.

In a statement on Tuesday, the Public Relations Officer of the diocese, Ven. Folorunso Agbelusi, said Olumakaiye conceived the city as a legacy to be given back to society.
