Following the lingering crisis that has engulfed Lagos All Progressives Congress (APC) as regards who takes the seat of governance of the state come 2019, a fresh move has been initiated to bring about a truce between the principal contenders; the former governor of Lagos State, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and the incumbent governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode.
A reliable source told The Boss that the Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, who has been in the forefront of brokering peace between the two met them on Monday at the Eko Hotels and Suites in Victoria Island, Lagos during the book launch of Chairman and Founder of Zenith Bank, Mr. Jim Ovia.
The Vice President’s intervention, which sources say was at the instance of President Muhammadu Buhari, decided that for peace to reign, and avoid the loss of Lagos to opposition, it were best to let Ambode continue and complete the next four years in office while the new face of Lagos governorship race, Mr. Jide Sanwo-Olu should settle for the deputy governor’s position.
The Source further intimated that it is not yet certain if all the moves so far made will douse the tension that has already been generated since the issue of Tinubu dumping his erstwhile godson became public knowledge.
