Celebrated journalist and presidential aspirant on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Aare Dele Momodu, has taken another bold step in his quest to consult widely as the 2023 presidential election draws closer.
The widely traveled aspirant, during the week, visited controversial Islamic cleric, Sheihk Abubakar Gumi, in his Kaduna home, to intimate him of his desire to salvage the nation from its present state of decay.
In his speech, Aare Momodu told the cleric that time is now when someone more cerebral, more connected and more humane is allowed to run the affairs of the nation.
He lamented the state of deterioration the country is presently suffering, adding that when given the opportunity, he will utilise the experience garnered from traveling all the world to set things right.
“It’s sad how things are at the moment. Nigeria needs a more experienced person at the helm of affairs, somehow who understands the politics of the world, and I have all it takes to revamp, salvage and set the country on the path to glory again,” Momodu informed the cleric.
In his response, Gumi, who wholeheartedly welcomed Momodu to his home, resonated the presidential aspirant’s assertion, saying that the time is now for a real change. He applauded Momodu for his courage to follow through the course of activism culminating in the audacious quest to become president of Nigeria.
“I welcome you to Kaduna, and to my home. I appreciate your efforts, and commend your resolute attendance to details as far as this country is concerned,” Gumi intoned.
Momodu’s visit to Gumi has been described as a landmark achievement for the aspirant.
Stakeholders and holders and bookmakers said that the aspirant has achieved what most politicians would not have dreamed of attempting.
Speaking exclusively with The Boss, Momodu said his visit was a bridge building effort, and has cemented great relationships.
Gumi forms the list of top Nigerians Momodu has visited so far since he announced his Intention to run for president including former President Olusegun Obasanjo, the Ooni of Ife, Chief Gani Adams, Alaafin of Oyo, Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State, Ataoja of Osogbo, Oluwo of Iwo among a host of others.
