A reflection of warmth, elegance, humanity and quality substance, Alhaja Wosilat Okoya-Seriki, has proved to be the perfect blend of goodness, acumen, entrepreneurial spirit and immense beauty, affecting lives and bringing joy to as many that know her. At 65, her legacy is one of stupendous narrative and high-profile elevation.
Born on August 17, 1961, into the celebrated Okoya lineage, Wosilat, though a younger sister of the legendary industrialist and philanthropist, Alhaji Rasak Akanni Okoya, CON, has carved a niche for herself.
She was married to the late Otun Aare of Lagos, Chief Ademola Rasaq Seriki, CON, who served Nigeria as Ambassador to Spain and Permanent Representative to the United Nations World Tourism Organisation until his death in December 2022. Reports rightly recorded that when the late diplomat answered the call to serve the nation, she stood firmly by him, making a home with him in Madrid throughout his diplomatic posting. She remained by his side until his final days and, since his death, has continued to honour his memory, organising prayers each year for the repose of his soul.

Mrs Okoya-Seriki is a mother of three daughters as well as a grandmother, and has also devoted much of her life to her family. The output so far experienced of her children is a clear indication that she raised them with special emphasis to hard work, discipline and family values. Their works and accomplishments today are a joy to behold by all and sundry. For a woman whose life has intersected with some of Nigeria’s most prominent social, business and diplomatic circles, she has nevertheless maintained a measure of privacy that is increasingly uncommon in public life.
For decades, Mrs. Okoya-Seriki has occupied a distinctive place within Nigeria’s social circles. Her presence at important gatherings has often been marked by elegance and warmth, but those who know her closely say what truly sets her apart is the quality of her relationships and the generosity of her spirit.

She has earned a reputation as a woman of substance in her own right—someone whose friendship is valued and whose presence is appreciated by people from different walks of life.
Born on August 17, 1961, into the prominent Okoya family, Wosilat is the younger sister of renowned industrialist and philanthropist, Alhaji Rasak Akanni Okoya, CON.
But despite belonging to one of Nigeria’s most recognised families, she has largely charted her own course. Those close to her insist that her personality and character, rather than her celebrated family background, have been the foundation of the respect she commands.
She is widely described as warm, gracious, generous and deeply loyal to the people she holds dear.
Unlike many who occupy prominent social positions, Mrs. Okoya-Seriki has never been one to aggressively seek the spotlight. Her lifestyle has been characterised by discretion, family values and a preference for meaningful relationships over public attention.

Her life also became closely connected with public service through her marriage to the late Chief Ademola Rasaq Seriki, CON, Otun Aare of Lagos, who served Nigeria as Ambassador to Spain and Permanent Representative to the United Nations World Tourism Organisation.
When her husband accepted the responsibility of representing Nigeria abroad, Wosilat stood firmly beside him. She relocated with him to Madrid, where she supported him throughout his diplomatic assignment and helped create a home away from home.
Her devotion to her husband was particularly evident during his final moments. She remained by his side until his death in December 2022.
Since his passing, she has continued to honour his memory. Every year, she organises prayers for the repose of his soul, a tradition that reflects the depth of the bond they shared and her enduring commitment to family.

Beyond her social standing, Mrs. Okoya-Seriki’s greatest source of pride is her family.
She is a mother of three accomplished daughters and a grandmother whose grandchildren remain a major part of her life. Those who have watched her raise her children describe her as a mother who placed a premium on discipline, hard work, good upbringing and personal responsibility.
Her children, in turn, have continued to make her proud through their achievements and the values they have carried into their own lives.
For Wosilat, family has never been merely a title. It has been a lifelong responsibility and a source of purpose.
At 65, Mrs. Okoya-Seriki continues to attract admiration for her distinctive sense of style.
She is known for her elegant appearance, glowing complexion and carefully coordinated outfits, often turning heads whenever she appears at social events. Admirers frequently remark that she appears remarkably youthful, while her fashion choices reflect both sophistication and confidence.
Yet her elegance does not come with an overwhelming desire for attention.

She remains a woman who prefers to appear when there is a reason to be there, rather than becoming a constant presence on the social scene. Her low-profile approach has arguably made her public appearances even more memorable.
Turning 65 is more than a numerical milestone. For many, it represents decades of experience, lessons learned, relationships built and lives touched.
For Wosilat Okoya-Seriki, the milestone provides an opportunity to reflect on a life marked by family, friendship, marriage, motherhood, service and quiet influence.
Her story is not necessarily one of seeking the microphone or commanding the headlines. Instead, it is the story of a woman whose influence has been exercised through relationships, loyalty and the simple but powerful ability to be there for the people who matter to her.
At 65, she is being celebrated not merely because she belongs to a famous family or because she has occupied a respected position within Nigeria’s social circles, but because she has built a personal legacy of warmth, strength, elegance and devotion.
Her birthday, therefore, is not simply a celebration of age. It is a celebration of a life in positive position, with enduring legacy trailing her every move.
