Davido and Chioma’s Three Year-Old Son, Ifeanyi Dies

The three year-old son of popular music artiste, Davido, and his fiancée, Chioma Rowland, has reportedly died

Reports hinted that Ifeanyi Adeleke drowned in a swimming pool at his residence in the Banana Island area of Lagos State.

In a bid to revive him, the three-year-old victim, after being pulled out of the swimming pool, was reportedly rushed to a hospital in the Lekki area of the state, where he was confirmed dead by one of the doctors on duty.

Though the family is yet to react to the tragic development, entertainment lovers, had been outraged and traumatised by the development.

A number of celebrities, including comedians Ayo Makun and Lasisi Elenu, and radio personality Daddy Freeze, who confirmed the death, have posted sad messages.

Makun, in an Instagram post early Tuesday, wrote, “The death of a child is unnatural, unfair, and tragic, this hit me so bad.”

Daddy Freeze, who went live on Instagram in the early hours of Tuesday morning said, “When the person you love is someone involved it becomes a heavy emotional burden. I am not confirming anything but bear with me I will not be live tonight.”

Lasisi Elenu also posted, “Father heal your children’s heart from this pain, strengthen them in such a dark and hurtful time oh Lord.”

The Punch reported that reality TV star and actress, Rosemary Afuwape, said on her Instagram story, “My heart can’t take this. This is so painfully unbearable. Chioma and Davido please accept my condolences. No amount of words can comfort your hearts. I am truly sorry for your loss.”

As of 1.28am, news of Ifeanyi’s rumored death was the most trending topic on Twitter.

The rumored death, however, emanated from a now deleted post from actress, Eniola Badmus, late Monday.

Nigerians, while reacting to Badmus’ post, criticised her for leaking such sensitive information to the public.

Police Arrest Hip Hop Artist, Portable

The Ogun State police command has arrested famous singer, Habeeb Okikiola, commonly called Portable, who had earlier refused to honour the police invitation.

Recall that earlier on Tuesday, two videos of the musician raining curses and rough-handling some men of the Nigeria police surfaced on the internet.

Portable’s arrest is coming after the police gave a 72-hour ultimatum to the singer, which elapses today, Friday.

The police had condemned the singer’s actions, and also threatened to prosecute him.

Portable had claimed that an internet fraudster had brought the police to his bar to arrest staff members “for no reason.”

But the police noted that it acted on a petition.

Speaking on the development, the Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, confirmed that the singer has been arrested and currently cooling his feet at the state headquarters of the police in Eleweran, Abeokuta.

Mr Oyeyemi further said the Zazu crooner was arrested after refusing five invitations.

It was also gathered that the singer will remain in police custody till Monday when he will be charged in court.

Yul Edochie Invites Police to Investigate Son’s Death

The Lagos Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the development in a conversation with The Daily Post on Thursday. According to the police, the investigation will be conducted by the State Criminal Investigation Department.

The 16-year-old boy passed away on Thursday, after developing seizures and being rushed to the Mother and Child Hospital in Lagos.

May Edochie’s sister told Vanguard that the child read all night and was studying for his exam. He then joined his friends to play football after his school exam, where the seizures started. The report further stated that all attempts by the medics to revive him failed.

The young boy is the first son and second child of Yul and his wife, May.

Davido’s ‘Timeless’ Tops Album Charts in 17 Countries Hours After Release

Just hours into the album release, ‘Timeless’ has already reached NO. 1 on the Apple Music album chart in 17 countries across the world.

The album is topping in Nigeria, the United Kingdom, Ghana, Senegal, Uganda, Niger, Malawi, Benin, Cameroon, Ivory Coast, Liberia, Qatar, Sierra Leone, Tanzania, United Arab Emirates, and Zimbabwe. Davido is one of the biggest artists on the continent so it’s unsurprising that his album already occupies the top spots just hours into its release. The chart performance of ‘Timeless’ in Qatar doesn’t come as a surprise as Davido performed at the FIFA 2022 World Cup hosted by the country. The United Kingdom has continued to be a huge market for Afrobeats hence the album is expected to enjoy wide patronage there.
