Billionaire businessman, Mr. Femi Otedola has once again shown that he is not only a patriotic Nigerian but one who puts his money where his heart is.
In a bid to boost the morale of the Nigerian senior national team, the Super Eagles, at the ongoing African Cup of Nations Football tournament ( AFCON 2021), Otedola, who is Chairman, Geregu Power Plc, has promised to splash the naira equivalent of $250,000 as bonus to the team if they lift the cup.
Otedola’s pledge was revealed to the officials and players of the team by Central Bank of Nigeria ( CBN) Governor, Mr Godwin Emefiele while on a visit to the team camp in Garua, Cameroon.
Emefiele who was accompanied by NFF President , Amaju Melvin- Pinnick, said that though a group of Corporate Nigeria and titans under the banner of CACOVID ( which Otedola is a member) have promised $20,000 per goal scored by the team in the knock out stage of the tournament, Otedola was making this additional commitment to help them soar.
He revealed that the team has already won the naira equivalent of $80,000 for goals scored during the preliminary round where Nigeria topped its group with nine points
