The organized Labour in Kogi State have hailed Governor Yahaya Bello on the commencement of table payment of 3-4 months salaries to civil servants in the state.
NLC Chairman, Comrade Onuh Edoka made this statement today during the inauguration of the Committee saddled with the responsibility of ensuring effective, transparent, and accountable payment of salaries and arrears in the State by the Executive Governor of Kogi State, His Excellency, Alhaji Yahaya Bello at the Banquet Hall of the Governor’s Office in Lokoja.
Comrade Edoka said the Governor has held up to the agreement reached by government and the union to offset salary arrears with the latest trench of the Paris refund.
“The table payment is part of moves aimed at sanitizing the payroll of the state and we are fully in support of it. We believe that this exercise will finally put to rest all the discrepancies associated with the payment system in the state”.
Comrade Enoka who expressed satisfaction over the Governor’s dedication to the civil service reform and the transparency of the New Direction administration in regards to the wage bill of the State called on President Muhammadu Buhari to release the balance of the 30 billion Naira Bail Out fund to Kogi State to enable the government clear other entitlements of workers.
He pledged the readiness of labour to give all the needed support to the Government in securing the fund.
