Senate insists Handover Date is May 29

The Nigerian Senate has said that despite the honour bestowed  on Late Chief Moshood Kashimawo Abiola regarding celebrating Democracy on June 12, inauguration of Presidents wiĺl still remain May 29.

The Inauguration of a New President usually occurs during the Democracy Day celebration.

This was agreed up by Senators in a voice vote after deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu called the attention of the house to the fact that if June 12 is allowed to be the day for inauguration it may lead to tenure extension.
