Again IG Shuns Senate Summons, Sends DIG

The Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, again, in less than one week, refused to honour a senate summons to answer questions on the arrest and detention of Senator Dino Melaye as well as the continuous killings across the country.

The IG, like he did last week, was represented by the Deputy Inspector-General of Police, Joshak Habila, whom the senators rejected the first time.

 

The Senate had, last Thursday, rejected taking Habila, while the IG accompanied President Muhammadu Buhari to Bauchi State during his official visit.

On Wednesday (today), the IG sent Habila again, but the lawmakers condemned the action, saying it could jeopardise democracy.
