The Senate on Wednesday summoned the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Ibrahim Idris over what transpired on Tuesday with Senator Dino Melaye.
The Senate also suspended sitting on Wednesday to visit Melaye who is presently in the hospital.
Senators were furious over what they described as alleged inhuman treatment meted on Melaye.
