The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has dissociated itself from an online promo claiming to offer free tutorials to candidates for its exam.

A statement signed by the Ag. Head, Public Affairs, WAEC Nigeria, Moyosola Adesina, on behalf of the Head of National Office, noted that the Nigerian office has no affiliation or connection whatsoever with the said site.

The Council further warned members of the public to beware of the site, stating that the body has “only one official e-learning portal for candidates seeking instructions and recommendations on approaching and tackling examination questions.”

The statement in details:

The attention of the West African Examinations Council has been drawn to a website purporting to offer online classes for prospective WASSCE candidates. We want to state that the Nigeria National Office of the West African Examinations Council has no affiliation or connection with the site.

The Council strongly urges stakeholders and the general public to beware of this website, as it may potentially be a spam or phishing platform aimed at capturing personal information for fraudulent and illegitimate purposes.

WAEC has only one official e-learning portal for candidates seeking instructions and recommendations on approaching and tackling examination questions. Prospective candidates are encouraged to visit the WAEC e-learning portal at https://www.waeconline.org.ng/e-Learning for accurate and reliable information.

In addition, candidates can log on to https://waeckonnect.com, a web-based electronic information sharing and dissemination system. WAECKonnect facilitates effective communication between the Council and candidates before, during and after the conduct of examinations. This platform also enables candidates to interact with other candidates and get first-hand information and notifications from the Council. Candidates can log-in onto the portal with their unique bio-data information used at the registration point.

The Council remains committed to excellence and service to the Nigerian child.
