Tinubu: Even a Nobel Laureate Can Hold Dubious View, American Physiotherapist Attacks Soyinka

American physiotherapist, Jeffery Guterman, has come hard on Nobel laureate Prof Wole Soyinka, for his views that President Bola Tinubu won the February 25, 2023 Presidential Election, saying that the revered academic holds a dubious view.

Guterman took to his X (formerly Twitter) account on Friday to address the Prof’s view.

He wrote: “I find it unfortunate that Wole Soyinka claimed that Tinubu won. It shows that even a Nobel Laureate in Literature can hold a dubious view.”

Recall that in an interview Soyinka granted during the week, he maintained the Labour Party’s candidate, Peter Obi, came a distant third, and knew he didn’t win the election, but only trying to use lies and force to armtwist the judiciary.

Soyinka had earlier in a separate television interview condemned the Obidient Movement for being farcical, a position that got him a barage of condemnations.

On September 6, 2023, the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal affirmed the election of Tinubu as President while throwing out all the petitions of Obi, and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate Atiku Abubakar, for lacking merit.

The two candidates have however, approached the Supreme Court, for a decisive judgment.

Troops Neutralize Notorious Bandit Leader, Halilu Sububu

Troops of Operation Hadarin Daji have neutralised a wanted bandits’ leader, Halilu Sububu.

He was reportedly killed on Thursday in an ambush by the troops in Kwaren Kirya, a community under Maru Local Government Area of Zamfara State

Halilu Sububu was a citizen of Niger Republic but resident in a forest of Zamfara State, and often escaped to the Niger Republic after operating in Nigeria.

Sububu was notorious gunrunner who allegedly owned a thriving illegal gold mining operation in Bagega and other communities around Sumke forest in Anka Local Government Area of Zamfara State.

Sububu had a camp on the western side of Bagega and controlled communities and all mining sites in the area.

He was declared wanted by the Defence Headquarters in May this year.

In a coordinated operation by the combined troops of sector one, Northwest Operation Hadarin Daji, the notorious bandits’ leader was killed alongside his 50 fighters.

I’ll Never Support Fubara in My Political Life Again, Says Wike

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and former governor of Rivers State, Mr. Nyesom Wike, has declared that he would never again in his political life support his erstwhile political godson and incumbent governor of Rivers, Mr. Sim Fubara, referring to him as an ingrate.

The Minister made the declaration while fielding questions in a live television news programme on Friday.

He accused Fubara of taking advantage of the President Bola Tinubu’s intervention to insult everybody.

Akwa Ibom Govt Approves 20k, 30k Monthly Bursary for Undergraduates, Postgraduates

Pastor Umo Eno, the Governor of Akwa-Ibom State, has said undergraduates and postgraduate students in the state would receive a monthly payment of ₦20,000 and ₦30,000 respectively from the state government.

Umo Eno stated this on Wednesday at the Youths Appreciation Rally to the youths in Uyo Township Stadium.

According to Eno, medical, law, engineering and agriculture undergraduate students would also be paid ₦30,000 monthly.

“For our students, starting this academic session, we have increased the bursary from ₦10,000 to ₦20,000 for all undergraduates, and from ₦10,000 to ₦30,000 for professional students studying medicine, law, engineering, agriculture, and all postgraduate students,” he said.

The Akwa-Ibom State Governor also stated that his government has trained youths in engineering in partnership with Ethiopian Airlines.

Eno added that his government would provide seedlings to youths trained in modern farming practices.

He explained that the government would be the sole buyer of the farm crops from the trained youths if the crops mature for harvest.

“We have 21 youths currently training as engineers with Ethiopian Airlines. They are Addis Ababa, sponsored by the state government. We have trained well over 150 of our youths in agriculture, with the aim of utilizing their skills in our model farms and also to help them become agripreneurs. We will provide them with the seedlings and purchase those seedlings when it’s time for harvest. We’ll support them and provide funds to run their businesses,” Eno added.
