Dignitaries from all spheres of life gathered at Harbour Point Event Center, Victoria Island , Lagos for the service of Songs for the grandmaster of Nigerian Banking, Otunba Michael Subomi Balogun.
At exactly 3:30 pm the service began with an opening prayer by Asiwaju Fola Osoba after which hymns followed immediately.
The service of Songs was officiated by Archbishop Dr. Yemi Fatade assisted by Bishop (Dr.) J.A Akindele , Bishop (Dr.) J. O Oridota , Bishop (Dr.) Peters Olorunfunmi and Rev.(Dr.) Solomon Yinka Adeleke.
The first bible reading was done by Michael Balogun while the second bible reading was done by Kemi Balogun.
During the sermon, Bishop (Dr.) J.A Akindele charged the congregation about God’s purpose for every mortal on earth. “We are created to fulfill God’s purpose. Time is period which things happen. There is time for everything on earth and God gave us time to fulfill his purpose on earth.
If you don’t know your purpose on earth, your time will be wasted”. He said.
He stated that the deceased understood the purpose of his existence early and fulfilled it. He lived to make this world better than he met it and didn’t waste the time allotted to him that is why people have been celebrating him.”
After the sermon, Otunba Gbenga Daniel read the tribute sent by the President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio.
The service ended with a vote of thanks by Jide Balogun.
In attendance were, former Head of State, Gen.Yakubu Gowon and wife, Justice Olusola Oguntade, HE ( Mrs.) Bamidele Abiodun, Senator Daisy Danjuma, Mr. Femi Otedola, Chief. Rasaq Okoya and Chief (Mrs.) Sade Okoya, Alhaji Tajudeen Okoya, Otunba Bimbo Ashiru, Prof. Toyin Ashiru, Chief Olu Okeowo and wife, Hon. Ronke Shokefun, HE ( Mrs.) Toyin Saraki, Olorogun Sonny Kuku, Aigboje Aig- Imoukhuede, Jim Ovia and Tope Obasanjo among others.
