The much awaited National Arts and Culture Festival (NAFEST) scheduled to hold in Lagos will begin today at the newly refurbished National Stadium, Surulere. The events for the weeklong cultural fiesta will begin with a grand command performance showcased by Lagos as the host state.

Expected at the event are the governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Director General of the National Council of Arts and Culture, and chief hosts of the festival, Otunba Segun Runsewe, and other top government functionaries in Lagos state including the Commissioner for Arts and Culture and Permanent Secretary in the ministry of Arts and Culture.

It is worthy of note that the Lagos State government has put the hitherto moribund National Stadium into shape to host the annual fiesta, and the facility is now a sight to behold.

At moment, more than 20 states have arrived with Rivers State, which hosted and won in 2019 accounting for the highest number of participants with about 400 men and women.

NAFEST is an annual event that is hosted by states across the federation. The last edition in 2021 was hosted and won by Ekiti State.
