The Governor of Sokoto State, who also doubles as the Chairman, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governors Forum, Alhaji Aminu Tambuwal, has said that the party till date, remains Nigeria’s strongest and most cohesive party, irrespective of its opposition status at the federal level notwithstanding.

Tambuwal made the remarks while addressing delegates at the Eagle Square, Abuja, during the party’s national convention over the weekend, noting that attempts made by detractors from both within and outside the party to scuttle its unity and existence, have failed.

“Analysts and observers agree that there are attempts to scuttle our unity as a party and as a people. There are people that are working to present us as weak and in disarray but I am happy to report that contrary to the naysayers, the PDP is today the strongest and most cohesive party in Nigeria.

“I am happy to report that those that want to divide and weaken us are the ones failing and we are winning,” Tambuwal noted.

The governor informed that only PDP government will restore Nigeria to its former glory and give veritable assurance to Nigerians and that the rest of the world that there is a verifiable hope, saying that the party is of opportunity, growth and prosperity.

He further outlined the gigantic steps the party took in the past to give Nigeria colour including establishment of time surviving agencies like the EFCC, NAFDAC, NHIS, ICPC NSCDC among others.

“It is time we gather ourselves and find the vision and courage to go back to reassure Nigerians that the PDP is the party of opportunity, growth and prosperity. We need to reassure our fellow citizens and the rest of the world that notwithstanding these trying times, there is hope.

“Let us from today start to tell the world that another better and greater Nigeria is possible and the PDP is ready to take charge and lead Nigeria to greatness again.

“I am happy to report and remind everyone that we have done it before. Yes, the PDP has a long proud history of record and solutions to Nigerian challenges and needs.

“The PDP is the party that implemented policies that liberalized telecommunications and facilitated the diffusion of GSM. We are the party that built institutions like the NAFDAC, EFCC, ICPC, NHIS, and the NSCDC,” he said.

He called on members of the party to work assiduously towards restoring hope to the people, and enjoined the Nigerian public vote massively for the PDP to restore lost opportunities.

The PDP Convention held between October 30 and 31 2021 at the Eagles Square, Abuja.
