Ministerial Screening: Senate Permits Akume, Akpabio, Nwajiuba to ‘Take a Bow and Go’

Date:

By Eric Elezuo

The Senate has asked former Senators George Akume, Godswill Akpabio and Honorable Emeka Nwajiuba to take a bow and go as part of the tradition of the National Assembly.

While Akume and Akpabio are former governors of Benue and Akwa Ibom states respectively, and until last administration, members of the senate, Nwajiuba is a serving House of Representatives member.

It is normal for the National Assembly to avoid the screening of their former colleagues who appear before them since it is taken for granted that they are well known to the chambers in both professionalism and character.

The screening continues as former ministers are expected to take their turn beginning with Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu from Ebonyi State and Hon Rotimi Amaechi from Rivers State.

Dr. Uchechukwu Ogah was the first person to be screened as he responded to bordering on oil and gas among others.
