Stop The Rumour! “Lagos Monthly Sanitation Day Yet To Begin”-Sanwo-Olu

Date:

The Lagos State Government has clarified that the monthly environmental sanitation days which was stopped by the last administration will not start yet.

In a statement by Mr Gboyega Akosile, Deputy Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, he noted that though an Executive order on Environmental Sanitation was signed it did not mean immediate commencement of the programme.

The statement read:

Our attention has been drawn to a piece of information being shared on social media and WhatsApp groups, which states that there will be an environmental sanitation exercise on Saturday as a result of an Executive Order signed by His Excellency, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu on his first day in office as Governor of Lagos State.

We urge Lagosians to kindly ignore the message. Although Governor Sanwo-Olu signed an Executive Order against indiscriminate and illegal dumping of waste in the State, conversation on the return of the monthly environmental sanitation exercise is still a proposal.

Lagosians will be notified appropriately when the monthly environmental sanitation exercise is to begin.
