Drug Suspect Zainab Aliyu Returns From Saudi Arabia

Date:

Zainab Aliyu, who was arrested and later released by Saudi authorities over false drug trafficking charges, has arrived in Nigeria.

According to reports monitored on NTA news, she arrived Aminu Kano Airport Kano to the warm embrace of her parents and relations early this morning.

Her release from detention in Saudi Arabia was announced on April 30.

Zainab, a student of Maitama Sule University, Kano, was arrested at a Saudi airport after a banned drug, tramadol, was found in her bag.

She claimed unknown persons planted the drugs in her luggage because she checked in only one bag and had retrieved same and gone to the hotel before she was arrested.

The student had reportedly travelled from Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport in company with her mother, Maryam Aliyu, and sister, Hajara Aliyu, but was arrested over allegations that a bag bearing her nametag contained the unlawful substance.
