We have it on good authority that Zainab Aliyu, the Nigerian student held for possssion of drugs has been released from detention in Saudi Arabia.
A tweet from new media aide to the President, Bashir Ahmad, revealed the development this afternoon.
Mr Ahmad had earlier on Tuesday said that the Federal Government had hired lawyers in Saudi Arabia to join in efforts to secure Ms Aliyu’s release.
Aliyu had been held in Saudi Arabia after illegal dosage of tramadol was found in a bag labeled in her name at a Saudi airport.
It was stated that she may have been a victim of a drug cartel who used such ploy to ferry drugs to the holy land. There has been calls for her release.
The Federal Government has secured the release of Zainab Habibu Aliyu who was arrested in Saudi Arabia for alleged drug trafficking. Details soon from Ministry of Foreign Affairs. #FreeZainab
