Folarin Falana, popularly known as Falz, has released a socially conscious single, Talk. The artiste who addressed several social ills in his highly controversial song, This is Nigeria, has refused to give in to the criticisms and addresses political drama and other hard-hitting issues, in his new song.
The lyrics touch on topics including the issue of minimum wage, jungle justice, corruption, tribalism, extended presidential vacation, violence in the Senate among others. Falz also takes a shot at Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC), which had issues with the use of the hijab in his This is Nigeria video, saying, “Brother Muri shout finish we no see am for court…”. He goes further to say “Four year tenure, three year holiday”, in reference to President Buhari’s extended medical trip to London.
The music video for the song was released on YouTube as well, and has amassed over fourteen thousand views in the nine hours since it was released. The music video shows video game caricatures and animations of the issues which he talks about in the song.
Considering the controversial nature of the song as well as its video, we should expect heated discussions and reactions in the days to come. However, it would seem Falz will not be fazed.
