Sheroes Global, a Non-Government Organisation with the responsibility of empowering and celebrating women, and youths who inspire, influence and impact the society, has brought its services to the shores of Nigeria.
The group announced its overbearing presence with a maiden awards ceremony at the Sheraton Hotels, Lagos.
The much cerebrated awards tagged, “Empowering Women, Building our Nation”, was a parade of notable personalities in the entertainment and broadcasting indusries including the Chief Executive Officer of Women FM, Toun Sonaiya; winner of the Queen Moremi Ajasoro pageant, 2017/2018, Queen Iyimide Sola Shittu; Gospel artiste, Tope Alabi, who was pronounced the new Sheroes Global Ambassador; Managing Director/CEO of FirstHome Mortgage, Olajumoke Fashanu and veteran Nollywood actor, Afeez Oyetoro among others.
While delivering her speech, the Keynote Speaker, Hon. Nana Oye Lithur, who was also an award recipient, congratulated the Sheroes Initiative, its founder, Yemi Adenuga, as well as the awardees for expressing empathy to the vulnerable and the less privileged. She further charged Sheroes and all in attendance, to seize the opportunity of the forthcoming elections, to take charge of the affairs of the society.
The master compere, Toluwani Akaehomen, was on hand to intimate the audience of the various qualities that set the awardees apart from the rest while ace comedian, Afeez Aiyetoro, Mrs Mojisola Bakare among others bestowed the awards on the recipients.
Some of the recipients were Founder, Self-worth Organisation for Women Development, Mrs. Chinyere Anokwuru; Founder, Clapai Orphanage, Mrs. Jessica Nyabam; Founder, SHE WRITES WOMEN, Hauwa Ojeifo; Founder, Project Alert on Violence against Women, Josephine Effah-Chukwuma; Co-founder, The Beehive Initiative, Mrs. Iman Suleiman-Ibrahim; General Manager of Sterling Bank, Moji Bakare, Publisher/CEO of Kalahari Media, Olusesan Ekisola and others.
Afterwards, certificates were handed out confirmed Sheroes Global Ambassadors, among whom were Dr. Rotimi Akinlesi, Hajia Lami Tumaka and many more.
The event flowed on a fast lane with entertainment and music supplied by KQ and J’Dee just local and continental delicacies were made abundant for guests.
Sheroes Global is a women development and support organisation, which has over the years carried out its mission of building women and youths to becoming positive change agents, recognising their efforts and celebrating their achievements. The organisation was founded by Yemi Adenuga, a Nigerian-Irish broadcaster, producer, screenwriter, media personality and advocate for women’s rights and youth issues.
