APC Senators Threaten to leave If Party Adopts Indirect Primaries

By Eric Elezuo

Some All Progressives Congress (APC) senators have reportedly threatened to leave the party if the National Executive Council (NEC) adopts the indirect primaries system, which according to them, the governors prefer.

Premium Times reports that the senators said they fear governors would use the indirect delegates system to ensure only their favoured aspirants emerge party candidates.

APC stakeholders are about now undergoing a crucial meeting, and among issues tabled for discussion is the type of primaries suitable for the party.

It would be recalled that party’s national leader, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu,  a few days ago mandated that the indirect primaries system should be used to determine aspirants to represent the party in the forthcoming elections.
