The Man Matthew Seiyafa, New DSS DG

Date:

In the wake of the ‘illegal’ invasion of the National Assembly by men and officers of the Department of State Service, the Acting President, Prof.  Yemi Osinbajo, promptly fired the DSS Director General, Mr. Lawal Daura, and subsequently approved the appointment of Mr. Matthew Seiyefa as his replacement.

Mr. Seiyefa, a native of Bayelsa State, South south Nigeria, is seen as a child of circumstance, who is thrust headlong unto a situation he hardly envisaged, at least not on that fateful Tuesday evening.

Prior to his appointment as the Acting DG, DSS, he was an Assistant DG, being the most senior director in the outfit.

Seiyefa was also the Director, Institute of Security Studies, Abuja, served in different capacities, including the State Director in Osun, Akwa Ibom, Lagos and has an accumulated working experience of 34 years.

Seiyefa is also a member of the National Institute.
