The Representative of Lagos West in the Nigerian Senate, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola popularly called Yayi was this morning lucky to have escaped an abduction attempt by the hoodlums who stormed the Senate Chambers and seized the mace.
We are told that Senator Adeola had just stepped out of his car in front of the National Assembly building when he was sighted by some of the hoodlums who at the time had seized the mace and were looking for an escape route.
It was not immediately known if he was specifically targeted but according to Chief Kayode Odunaro, Senator Adeola’s Senior Legislative Assistant (Media), he was dragged into a Range Rover En Vogue-and the vehicle zoomed off.
The vehicle reportedly drove towards the front gate, and when the occupants discovered it was locked, they reversed and headed to the back gate. It was around the House Of Representatives section of the vast National Assembly Complex that the distinguished Senator escaped by forcing the car door open, and jumping out. He reportedly sustained injuries, sprained his legs and was rushed for treatment. The vehicle, we gathered, may have driven off through the back gate that leads to the Presidential Villa.
When this reporter called Odunaro this evening, he confirmed the incident and added that Senator Adeola was shaken by the incident, but was lucky to have escaped. He stated that the Senator was taking a rest and will be unable to speak.
