Love transcended international borders, and pierced the hearts of two love birds, Adaku Ufere, beautiful daughter of Chief (Dr.) Kingsley Ufere from Nigeria, and her Ghanaian heartthrob, Afetsi Awoonor, illustrious son of renowned poet, Kofi Awoonor.
The widely celebrated nuptial took place at Chief Kingsley Ufere’s compound in Ndiamazu Uno, Arondizuogu, Imo State with friends, family members and well-wishers of both families in attendance.
In her testimony, the happy bride told TheBoss that they met in South Africa barely one year before the event through mutual friends at a Newscafe Restaurant in Johanesburg. The lovebird, who believed that they are not foreign to each other, said that Nigeria and Ghana are considered brothers, noting that the difference between the two countries which share many things in common is just 45 minutes.
She eulogized her husband as someone who holds the family up, a perfect provider, best friend and many more. She further described him as one who does not express masculinity to the extreme.
Afetsi, who was with his father, Kofi Awoonor, at a Kenyan mall when terrorists attacked, survived with gunshot wounds while his father did not make it.
Among notable individuals who graced the international event were Hon. James Klutse Avedzi, Hon. Victor Ogagu, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Mike Okoli and his wife, Hon. Justice Ory Zik-Ikeocha, Chief Adebayo Sarumi, Chief (Mrs.) Ngozi Orubele, and Mrs. Nkoloyen.
Others were HRH Eze Martins Orizu, HRH Eze Obioha Okeke, Mr. Dunuo Awoonor, former Governor of Imo State, His Excellency, Chief (Dr.) Achike Udenwa, Mrs. Maggie Oduro Awoonor and many others.
