There is certainty that the Senator representing Akwa Ibom in the National Assembly, Godswill Akpabio will finally defect to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the continued gale of defections hitting the political space across board on Wednesday, August 8, 2018.
This was revealed by the Presidential aide, Senator Ita Enang. The aide added that Akpabio may not be the only one to be received by the party on Wednesday as others will join him.
Enang hinted that Akpabio, who has been holding talks with top APC officials as well as visited President Muhammadu Buhari in London on Sunday, is defecting based on national interest, not personal.
Former Governor Akpabio was reportedly quoted as saying that he will be defecting with about 12 other senators.
