The Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO) of the Nigerian Police Force, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, has created a buzz on the social media spaces he gave an answer that spread into praises and condemnation among social media users.
The police spokesperson had replied a respondent, who called him ‘APC Police Officer’ following a post he made on X, where he addressed the fallouts of the recently concluded Edo State governorship election, which Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) the winner.
The user, under the name Butterfly178478, had called the FPRO an APC Police officer probably in frustration of the outcome of the Edo election, where they believed the police played a role that facilitated the victory of the ruling party including chauffeuring the former governor of the state, who is an APC chieftain, on a Police helicopter.
In his response, Adejobi declared that “No Police officer can succeed without the use of APC. It protects personnel on operations because it’s armoured and bulletproof…”
Adejobi’s reply however, elicitated social media banter with many hailing his response as brilliant and well thought out while another set hinted that his statement was far from maturity. The noted that the accusation was serious, and required a serious answer, or at least a rebuttal if he wasn’t as accused.
It would be recalled that prior to the election, the government of Edo State had accused the IGP Kayode Egbetokun-led Nigerian Police Force as taking sides with the APC in the runoff to the election. The no love lost situation culminated in the refusal of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from signing the Peace Accord.
