Don’t Depart from Professional Practice because of Hunger, Ojudu Tells Journalists

A former senior special assistant in the presidency and frontline journalist, Chief Babafemi Ojudu, has called on journalists to adhere to the ethics of the profession while carrying out their duties, saying that hunger should never be a reason to sell their journalistic integrity.

Ojudu was speaking Tuesday at the launch of a book, Media and Elections: Professional Responsibilities of Journalists, written by Lanre Arogundade at the Eko FM hall, in Ikeja.

Ojudu noted with sadness that the practice of journalism has drastically waned as today’s journalists are more concerned about what they will eat, instead of reporting the fact, and by extension the truth.

Further admonishing the upcoming journalists, Ojudu cautioned that there is no need for a journalist to be rich in the course of his duties, stressing that a rich journalist has questions to answer.

He remarked that during the days when he, with his contemporaries practice news reportage, they did it with utmost passion, and most times did not even know where the next meal is coming from.

He lambasted those who are comprising in the line of duty while encouraging as many that still hold the banner high.

Ojudu has been a prolific journalist before delving into politics. He was a governorship aspirant during the 2018 Ekiti State election on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
