Veteran journalist and former presidential aspirant, Chief Dele Momodu, has cautioned the administration of President Bola Tinu against dictatorial tendencies following the sacking, and arrest by the Department of State Services (DSS) of former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Mr. Godwin Emefiele.
In an Instagram post he titled James Bond Moves, Momodu, who is the Chairman, Ovation Media Group, observed that though the fall of Emefiele from grace was inevitable as a result of some “foibles and egocentricities” he exhibited while in office, he would not join those gloating over his tragic fall, but will urge that the embattled former governor not be treated like a victim of political vendetta.
Momodu advocated that the rights of the former governor be “fully respected and guaranteed under the Laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” noting that the occasion of the 30th anniversary of June 12 should ensure that “no attempt should be made to install a civilian dictatorship in our beloved country.”

JAMES BOND MOVES…
On several occasions, I had cautioned then Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria GODWIN EMEFIELE at the peak of his glory when he started seeing himself as a politician and even attempted a misadventure by clandestinely making a Presidential bid. I knew he was heading to Golgotha. Now, as I envisaged, the cookies have crumbled.
Unlike those gloating over his tragic fall from grace, I will urge that he must not be treated like a victim of political vendetta. His rights must be fully respected and guaranteed under the Laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. On this special day of the 30th anniversary of June 12, no attempt should be made to install a civilian dictatorship in our beloved country.
EMEFIELE has served his country in good and bad times. Like all mortals, he must have displayed his foibles and egocentricities at some point but that cannot be enough reason to treat him summarily like a certified criminal when he’s not been tried…
He should not be humiliated ahead of any intended probe or trial…
It would be recalled that the Tinubu administration relieved Emefiele of his CBN governorship position on Thursday night, and subsequently ordered his arrest. He was picked up and flown to Abuja by the DSS.
