A total of five finalists for the Youth in Tourism Innovation Challenge, schedule to hold in Namibia, has emerged. The top five finalists were announced recently by the organizers of the event.
The Africa Youth in Tourism Innovation Summit and Challenge which commenced in 2019 is an annual Youth initiative hosted by Africa Tourism Partners in collaboration with the United Nations World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) and BDO South Africa. Since inception in 2019 in Durban, the event has been hosted by the Governments of Ghana (Ghana Tourism Authority in 2020), Rwanda (Rwanda Development Board, Rwanda Convention Bureau and Mastercard Foundation in 2020 and 2021) and the Government of Namibia (Ministry of Environment, Forestry and Tourism in 2022).
The organisers were delighted to announce the top five finalists for the Youth in Tourism Innovation Challenge 2023. Receiving over hundred entries from all over the African Continent, the organisers stated that “These are the young people who have dared to reimagine travel, tourism, and associated businesses on the continent’s only pan-African tourism start-up platform. The entries span the entire tourism value chain.”
The top five innovators are: Cornelius Ugwunwa, CEO of Kardinal Technologies Nigeria; Gloria Kisulu, Founder and CEO of The Shaba, Kenya; Ibukunoluwa Salau, Founder and CEO of Direx Nigeria; Mustapha Tijjani, Co-founder and CEO of Aeropaye Technologies Limited, Nigeria; Ntshabo Lehong Makeeda, Managing Director of HTW, South Africa.
The 5th Africa Youth in Tourism Innovation Summit and Challenge would take place in Swakopmund in Namibia from Wednesday, the 31st May to Friday, the 2nd June 2023.
