Cultists’ Clash Claims NURTW Chairman’s Life in Lagos

Suspected cultists, on Sunday, killed a man around Mile 12, in the Kosofe Local Government Area of Lagos State.

Unconfirmed reports identified the deceased as Sulaimon Onaolapo, popularly known as Ariku, who was said to be the Chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers in the area.

PUNCH Metro reports that a picture circulating on social media showed the victim’s corpse lying on the ground in a pool of blood. Beside the corpse were pieces of wood.

The clash was confirmed by the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor of Lagos State on New Media, Jibril Gawat, on Twitter.

He wrote, “YES. But Security Agents are fully on top of the matter. Cult Clash. One Suleiman Lawal aka “Ariku” was hit.”

Confirming the incident, state Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, said one person was killed but failed to identify the victim.

Hundeyin said, “Normalcy has been restored in the area. One person was killed. No arrest has been made yet.”
