How Niyi Adebayo, Tinubu Lured Me Into Politics- Gov. Kayode Fayemi

Date:

Though he confessed to having grown up as an activist, Ekiti State Governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi has revealed that he had no intention of joining until he was invited by Otunba  Niyi Adebayo and Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Making the revelation in an exclusive interview conducted by The Boss Publisher, Dele Momodu  live on Instagram and facebook, Dr Fayemi noted that though he had contributed a lot to the present democracy and actually worked with many politicians, it was not his intention to join partisan politics.

In his words ” I allowed them convince me to get involved and now here we are”

He stated that Otunba Niyi Adebayo had invited him since he was not running again as well as Asiwaju Bola Tinubu who was already aware of his credentials during the NADECO days in exile.

At that time, I was running the Centre of Democratic Development ( CDD), which by the way, is still in existence, until they lured me into politics.

Asked if he has any regrets so far as a politician, Governor Fayemi said an emphatic ” No”.

“Politics is actually linked to all the forms of activitism I have been involved in over the years, also what swayed me was my intention to see my state compete on the same level with the commity of states.

” Dont forget that when we came in, we had had an impeached governor and the election was inconclusive. I was in court for three and half years, so I had an agenda, I was attracted by the future of Ekiti, we had a socio-democratic agenda to reduce poverty within our state.

“Having a better society has always been at the forefront of what we fought for even when we were in exile and so we will continue fighting. This present position too is an opportunity to continue adding value and pursuing those ideals and therefore  I have no regrets.
