The Presidential Election Tribunal has announced that it will be ruling on the election petition brought before it by Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its Presidential candidate in the February 23 election, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.The Tribunal had taken the presentations of all parties involved in August and pledged to declare judgment on a date not later than September 15 as stipulated by law.
It is constitutional that election petition matters must not exceed 180 days. The 180 days was supposed to elapsed on September 15 which falls on a Sunday. Bookmakers had wagered on the 13th, being the last day of the week until the fresh proclamation.
Atikuis asking the Tribunal to nullify Buhari’s victory and declare him winner as according to him, Buhari has no valid educational qualifications to contest the presidential election.
In addition, the former Vice President claim he scored the highest number of valid votes cast, as recorded in an alleged server, which Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) never existed.
