The governorship campaign rally of the All Progressives Congress (APC), held at the Skypower Field, Ikeja, Lagos, Tuesday, was marred by high violence as rival gangs engage one another in a free for all fight.

Three journalists were also reportedly shot at the rally, which was organised to promote the governorship candidate of the party, Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

Reports say that among those hit by bullets were journalists from the Nation newspaper, New Telegraph and Ibile Television.

The show of shame started shortly after Lagos state governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode, mounted the podium to deliver his speech by suspected rival groups of National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW).

The crisis escalated when hoodlums took advantage of the occasion as they robbed people indiscriminately.

Another report also has that an official of NURTW, Musiliu Akinsanya, also known as ‘Oluomo’ was beaten and stabbed variously, but he managed to escape.

As the stampede persists, Ambode continued and concluded his speech before handing over to Sanwo-Olu who delivered the vote of thanks.

The campaign had many of the party’s chieftains with the exception of the national leader, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu in attendance.
