The Federal Government has as a matter of urgency conveyed to the world governing body, FIFA, its position on the lingering crisis over the leadership of the Nigeria Football Federation.

The position, according to the latest tweet by the media aide of the Vice President, Prof Yemi Osinbajo, acknowledges the current board as led by Mr. Amaju Pinnick.

The Senior Special Assistant, Media and Publicity to Vice President, Laolu Akande, stated on his twitter page that “The FG has already conveyed to FIFA its firm position recognizing Amaju Pinnick-led NFF as the current & only NFF Exco.

“Govt will also continue to work with all relevant stakeholders involved to resolve dispute in a timely manner. FG is upholding NFF treaty obligations to FIFA.”

The reaction is coming as the deadline given by FIFA to resolve the football crisis, according to the association’s regulation, or face a ban, expires by midnight of today.

The crisis has been pitched between Amaju Pinnick and Rufus Giwa over who is the authentic president of the Nigeria Football Federation.
