Ogun state commissioner for commerce and industry, Otunba Bimbo Ashiru has expressed his shock and sorrow over Thursday’s Lagos Fire incident on Otedola bridge where many were feared killed with lots of vehicles burnt.
The fire incident was caused after a fallen petrol-laden tanker exploded burning everything on the path of the spillage.
In his condolence message to the families of those affected in the unfortunate occurrence, Otunba Ashiru who is also a front runner in Ogun Gubernatorial race in the All Progressives Congress (APC) stated that “it was with heavy heart and deep emotion that i commiserate with Nigerians, the people of Lagos State and Lagos State Government on the tragic incident which could be described as one of the worst in the nation’s history”
“I’m yet to come to terms with the trauma which those involved went through and those who were lucky to escape are presently going through. it is quite sad and unprecedented. my thoughts and prayers go out to the victims and to their families as we pray to Almighty God to put a stop to such occurrences”.
He also lauded the efforts of emergency services, law enforcement officials and good Samaritans for their swift response following the tragedy which limited the losses and damage from the incident as he cautioned tanker drivers and other road users to always be safety conscious in order to avert unwarranted loss of lives and property of such magnitude.
