As we conclude this series on how to achieve Yoruba nation, it was worth going through a few points that I have highlighted in the previous episodes. In the first episode of this series, I elaborated on how we got into this mess in the first place and in last two week’s episode, I explained on how we can coordinate ourselves to achieve complete victory.
The bottom line of the matter is unless we are ready to do the needful, we will remain on this side of the island called Nigeria. When America was ready to break loose from the then colonial British government in the eighteenth century, it didn’t go to beg the British monarch for freedom. When South Sudan was ready to break loose from Khartoum, it wasn’t on its knees begging for bread, they fought gallantly for their freedom.
If we must be free from Nigerian stronghold today, the only way out of is our declaration of independence and await the consequences. To do that, we must be fully ready for any fallout from the declaration. Which in my opinion cannot withstand the anger and frustration our people are experiencing in Nigeria today. The country has truly been run to the ground by successive governments and even miracle cannot save it from disintegrating.
The great thing about our position as Yoruba today is that Nigeria only needs a minimal push to break into its original constituent’s component. The only thing is many of our bravest men are not supported to carry out the task of aggressively pushing for this break-up. There have been many missed opportunities, and the current anger, frustration, and hunger can be capitalised upon if we are truly determined to leave Nigeria.
I know some people may be arguing that a Yoruba man is now the president of Nigeria, therefore we can exercise patience to see what he would do for his Yoruba people. All I can tell them is that Buhari was a Fulani man and had hoped to conquer Nigeria for his Fulani clan which he failed to achieve. If we truly mean business with cutting ties with Nigeria, this is the best time for us to take a stand.
We can either be ready to leave Nigeria or not, we can’t be in-between. The struggle for freedom and liberation does not lie in having endless zoom meetings and asking who is holding one position or the other. In as much as we are not yet where we need to be, position should matter less at this moment.
Our focus should be on the end goal, that said, there are some people that should never have been in the forefront of our struggle. These men and women have come forward in the name of actively pursuing self-determination for the Yoruba people only for us to discover that what they are after is their own stomach.
Such characters should not even be in our midst in the first place and there should be no forgiveness for people of such characters. As we press on in our struggle, the time is ripe for us to focus on the end goal and to know those among us who are competent to accomplish the task.
This is not the time for experimentation, it is the time for action and until we begin to put words into action, we may as well continue to wish for a Yoruba nation that may never come. All I can say to my fellow comrades is that if victory must be ascertained, then all we ought to be preparing for now is the declaration of our independence.
Once we realise that it is only through declaration would we be able to liberate our Yoruba country and gain our independence, then we would be halfway through the mark. If we don’t recognise that until we make ourselves formidable and able to declare our independent nation, then we may continue in these shenanigans of endless zoom meetings hoping that one day someone somewhere is going to give us our Yoruba nation.
