The candidate of the United Progressives Party for Imo West senatorial district, Precious Nwadike, has called on the Independent National Electoral Commission to declare him the winner of the election.
Nwadike, who spoke during a press conference in Owerri on Saturday, said he met the requirements of the law and should have been returned by the commission.
He further said he would retrieve his mandate from Okorocha.
He alleged that Okorocha won the election through “foul means and result manipulation.”
Nwadike claimed that while he went round the senatorial district to campaign for votes, Okorocha never campaigned but only relied on altering the electoral process.
He stated, “Emerging facts on the Imo West senatorial election on February 23, 2019 have opened a can of increasing controversies. It revealed that while others worked hard and campaigned to win on the field, the All Progressive Congress’ candidate, Rochas Okorocha, only hoped to win through foul means. He applied manipulations, including harassment, intimidation, dehumanisation and open threat to the officials who manned the process.”
