Lagos Traffic Radio Kicks off Second Annual “Don’t Drink and Drive Road Show”

The Lagos Traffic Radio, a wholly traffic reportage radio station, has held its annual ceremony to raise awareness against  driving under the influence of alcohol. The event, which is in its second edition is known as  “Don’t Drink and Drive Road Show”.

In his welcome speech, the Acting General Manager of Lagos Traffic Radio, Mr. Charles Eyitayo Akanle, emphasized that the annual event is to create necessary awareness and sensitize motorists on the risks of driving whilst under the influence of alcohol.

While delivering his keynote address, the special guest of honor, the Honorable Commissioner for Information & Strategy, Mr. Kehinde Bamigbetan, stressed that the average Nigerian consumes about 12 litres of alcohol, adding that the development has necessitated creating awareness for the safety of the roads. He noted that “the right to life comes with a duty to protect it”.

Other distinguished individuals who were in attendance to support the initiative include the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Information & Strategy, Mrs. Kofoworola Omotayo Awobamise, General Manager of LASTMA, Mr. Olawale Musa, Lagos state Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Hyginus Omeje, former General Manager, Lagos Traffic Radio, Mr. Olayinka Adagun, Director of Safety Training and Education, Mr Adeyinka Adebiyi Yekinni, LASTCOA President, Prince Tajudeen Adetoro and many others.
