Egyptian Billionaire, Mo Ibrahim who has been in the forefront of promoting goood governance in Africa has given a technical knock out to President Muhammadu Buhari and Alhaji Atiku Abubakar whose supporters want to run for Nigeria’s Presidential election in 2019.
Speaking at a conference in a video that has since gone viral, Ibrahim revealed his disgust for the average age of African leaders which he said has been responsible for the slow space of development around the continent.
” Look at the average age of African Presidents, it is about 63, 64 years old.We are the only continent in the world where we have Presidents at 90 years old, they are starting a new terms, I mean you guys are crazy or what?”
He wondered why countries like America, France, Canada can hand their economies, nuclear weapons and all to young men in their 40s and less why Africa constantly goes for old men.
He added derisively : ” If Obama was in Kenya, He could not have been President, he will probably have been driving a taxi somewhere”.
Ibrahim’s foundation awards $5million yearly to Former African leaders who excel in office, a few weeks ago, former Liberian President, Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf was announced as the 2017 winner.
