At 50, life does not just gain momentum; it clinically becomes more enjoyable, especially when the right touches are applied. And who knows how the right touches are applied if not the ebullient Publisher of Ovation titles and journalist extraordinaire, Chief Dele Momodu.
This came to the fore at the Civic Centre weekend when the ever beautiful Chief (Mrs.) Bolaji Momodu turned 50 and was given a thunderous reception that made her look 25 in the presence of Nigeria’s top society buffs, who categorically added glamour to an already charged atmosphere.
The early evening event kick started with the arrival of superlatively dressed guests who defiled all odds to make their presence felt, walking past an equally gaily designed runway with a host of paparazzis doing more than justice to the stupendous arrival.
In the hall, which was magnificently decorated with slide show and documentary of the birthday girl on the big screen, guests were already falling over one another anticipating the arrival of the first family of the night. Then they arrived in the blaze of glory, and the event kicked off proper.
With Pastor Ituah Igudalo on ground, the presence of God was immediately drawn down followed by heartfelt prayers for the 50 year old woman and her family, thanking God for His faithfulness in their lives and for more of his protection as she prepares for another 50 years.
This was followed by eulogies, recorded and live; on the life of Chief (Mrs.) Momodu, who had been variously described as a ‘glorious mother and supportive wife’ and punctuated at intervals by scintillating music, ancient and modern by DJ Abass of Classic FM on the wheels of steel and Lanre Teriba Atorise and group on the band stand. In fact, the stage was set for wholesome celebrations.
Unlike most parties, this gathering was refreshment unbarred as food and drinks of diverse specification flowed in avalanche satisfying both thirst and hunger, thereby raising the bar in guests entertainment.
It was an elated Chief Momodu and his wife, who were invited to the stage for a dance, and in fact, they did not disappoint, replicating the steps that saw them got hooked to each other 25 years ago when they were struck by Cupid’s arrow.
And because Dele Momodu was involved, everybody who was somebody was also involved. Among them were the Governor of Ogun State, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, and his wife, former Speaker of Ogun House of Assembly, Hon. Titi Oseni; former Deputy Governor of Osun State, Senator Iyiola Omisore, Oba Saheed Elegushi, and former Governor of Ogun State, Chief Olusegun Osoba.
Others are Princess Abiodun Omotade, Iyalaje of Apapa, Princess Toyin Kolade; Senator Tokunboh Afikuyomi, Chief (Mrs.) Shade Okoya, Prince Demola Seriki and wife, former Speaker of Lagos House of Assembly, Hon. Adeyemi Ikufuriji, former Managing Director of UBA, Mr. Philip Oduoza, Retired AIG, Tunji Alapinni, Mr. Bayo Fatusi, Publisher of Encomium Magazine, Mr. Kunle Bakare.
More dignitaries include Mr. Tunde Folawiyo, Senator Gbenga Obadara, Mr. Toye Okanlawon, the Aro of Ife, Chief Alex Duduyemi, Mr. Funsho Adeagbo and wife, music maestro, Sir Shina Peters, Sir and Lady Olu Okeowo, Otunba Layi Olowo, Mr. Yemi Ogunbiyi, Pastor Ituah Igudalo and a host of others numerous to mention.
Born Mobolaji Abiodun Adaramaja to the family of Chief Akinola Adaramaja, ‘a first class brain, erudite lawyer, the first Attorney-General of Ogun State, and Mrs. Ebunoluwa Adaramaja, an extremely beautiful and very successful businesswoman, dealing in assorted merchandise of textiles and jewellery on the famous Lebanon Street, in Gbagi Market, Ibadan’ in 1967, Mrs. Momodu attended Sacred Heart School, Ibadan for her Primary education; and St. Theresa’s College Ibadan for her Secondary education.
After that, she was admitted at the Obafemi Awolowo University. She married her heartthrob, Dele Momodu, in an elaborate marriage ceremony in Ijebu Ode on December 19, 1992.
