Families, fitness junkies and fun lovers from all over Lagos had a lot to be excited about earlier today at the official opening of West Africa’s first trampoline park and multipurpose recreational facility, Upbeat Recreation Centre situated at 11 Admiralty Road, off Admiralty Way, Lekki  Phase One.
Billed as a day of fitness and fun, the occasion afforded all-comers a unique and exciting opportunity to network, enjoy great music, food and entertainment and celebrate active, healthy living within the fun and relaxing environment that the world class facility provides.
Speaking to pressmen at a briefing held to herald the launch of the first rate centre, Mrs. Moyo Ogunseinde, the Executive Director of Uragha Real Estate Limited – the developers of the centre – said that the Upbeat Recreation Centre was a project borne out of passion and necessity.
Ogunseinde said, “As real estate developers, we had to think differently and diversify real estate offerings in Nigeria. Statistically, Nigeria has a youth population of about 67 million, aged between 15 and 35 years. Therefore a viable market opportunity existed to cater to the youth through Upbeat Recreation Centre which is a truly one-of-a-kind development in Africa.”
“The quality and design of the facility include sustainability and world class safety measures as well as the various activities which set it apart from any existing recreation facility in Nigeria and West Africa. Upbeat has set a bar of excellence in the real estate sports and recreation market especially with the availability of a world class trampoline park,” she added.
Dr. G. S. Yakubu, CEO, Uraga Real Estate which is a susbsidiary of Honeywell Group and which boasts an array of successful projects including the luxurious 5-star Radisson Blu Anchorage Hotel on Victoria Island Lagos, told journalists, “Uraga’s mission is to bring people together to work for a prosperous future, sharing the collective wisdom and business acumen of multiple project partners, leading the development and management of valuable spaces  and increasing the wealth and wellbeing of all stakeholders. In fulfillment of our mission, Uraga Real Estate is committed to bringing people together in this unique sport and recreation facility and so encourage participation in sport, develop talent and contribute to the health and wellbeing of the people in Nigeria and indeed, all of Africa.”
Amenities at the centre include an indoor trampoline park, a tumble track, a dodge ball court, an outdoor basketball court, a five-a-side football pitch, retail spaces for lease and other fun and fitness facilities for leisure and training.
Upbeat Centre has already attracted celebrity endorsements from top celebrity ambassadors including rated TV presenter, Ebuka Obi-Uchendu, Nollywood superstar actress, Kate Henshaw and fitness guru, Maje Ayida who each identify closely with a fit and active lifestyle.
Following an earlier pre-opening tour, Kate Henshaw remarked, “Upbeat is just incredible. It has everything from trampolines, basketball, a play area for children, rooms for parties, football and most importantly, it is family-friendly.”
“The facility is designed to fill a gap in the market where families can find fun and fitness in one place,” noted Uyok Hanson who is the centre’s Operations Manager.
Hanson also noted that future exciting offerings by the centre will include waterfront activities given its strategic waterfront location, training of trampoliners for the Olympics, mini basketball and football leagues and youth programmes to help capture the minds of society’s young with productive sporting engagements.
The centre  has now offically opened to the general public and  fun lovers  can also check out the facility’s distinct membership and walk-in offerings online at www.upbeatcentre.org.
